The Hilton Head Area Chapter of MOAA supports three area High School Junior ROTC Programs — Army, Navy, and Air Force.  This support includes awarding National MOAA JROTC  Military Achievement medals and a $100 stipend to outstanding junior cadets at each school. In addition, $750 Colonel Edwin S. Tankins Memorial Scholarships are awarded to  outstanding senior Cadets who are planning to attend College. The Chapter also provides grants of $1000 in support of unfunded JROTC high school requirements — such as drill team, color guard, Ranger team and rifle team items. 
 
A luncheon is held in May to honor the juniors medal and the senior JROTC scholarship recipients. In addition to the recipients, the parents and the JROTC Instructors are invited to the luncheon. Time is available for the cadets, parents, and Instructors to meet and greet the members of the Chapter who attend the luncheon.
